Sensor Interfaces that generally do not require Custom FW Sensor Interfaces that will require Custom FW

The Hawk can integrate with essentially “any” sensor.

If a sensor isn't compatible with one of our cards, we can develop one for you (please contact DM Support).

The Hawk offers numerous different inputs including:

  • Digital Inputs
  • Analog (0-30V) inputs
  • 4-20mA
  • Bluetooth®
  • I2C
  • 1-wire
  • SDI-12
  • RS232
  • RS485

Some of these sensor interfaces require custom FW integration, some do not.

Digital Inputs

Digital Inputs can be used for numerous applications on the Hawk.

Doesn't require integration.

Input range: 0-40 DC.

Analog inputs are on a variety of our Hawk cards.

Doesn't require integration.

4-20mA

Doesn't require integration.

Some cards have direct 4-20mA inputs.

  • Configure 4-20mA Sensor readings on the Hawk

Otherwise, you can configure 4-20mA readings to be read with an additional resistor wired in.

  • Measure a 4-20mA signal with an analog input

RS485

Currently, RS485 is only available on the RS1 card.

We have created a “Generic” Modbus action which should be able to cater to most use cases.

For more information on that, please see:

  • Generic Modbus RS485 Action
  • Example Generic Modbus RS485 Integration

For help with this configuration, please contact DM Support.

We can also perform a custom integration for specific sensors if required.

For example, please see Custom GA Weather Station Integration

SDI-12

Most SDI-12 tags that follow the spec should work.

However, not just any SDI-12 commands can be used with our devices.

Please see:

Sensor Interfaces that will require Custom FW

I2C

There are a couple of cards that can interface with I2C sensors.

This interface requires integration.

For a list of I2C sensors that we have integrated with the Hawk, please see the articles in this folder: I2C

RS232

Sensors that use RS232 require custom firmware to work with the Hawk.

RS232 is only available on the Serial Card.

If you want to use an RS232 sensor with the Hawk please contact Digital Matter support.

TTL

Sensors that use TTL require custom firmware to work with the Hawk.

TTL is only available on the Serial Card.

If you want to use an TTL sensor with the Hawk please contact Digital Matter support.
