What are Device Manager Reports? Access & Permissions How Do I Get to the Reports? Report Categories Two Ways to Run a Report Available Reports Next Steps

Device Manager includes a set of reports that give you visibility across your fleet: device connectivity, battery health, firmware currency, user security, and billing. This article introduces what the reports are, how to get to them, and how to run them, whether you want a quick one-off answer or an automated, recurring view.

      What are Device Manager Reports?

Reports let you pull structured information about your devices and account, on-demand or on a recurring schedule, rather than checking devices one at a time. They are designed to help you move from reactive to proactive fleet management: spotting devices that have stopped connecting, batteries that are running low, firmware that is falling behind, user accounts that need a security review, and billing detail for reconciliation.

      Access & Permissions

The Reports permission sits under the default category in Device Manager user permissions and is enabled for most users. This grants access to view and run reports.

To schedule reports, two additional permissions are required, both under the Admin permission set: Scheduled Report Manager and Scheduled Report View.

Some individual reports also require additional roles or are opt-in. If you cannot see a report you expect in your toolbar, contact Digital Matter support to have it enabled.

How Do I Get to the Reports?

      1. Log in to Device Manager. If you need help with access, see Welcome to Device Manager.
      2. Click Reports in the left-hand navigation menu.
      3. Choose a report from one of the report categories, then click its name to open it.

A blue info banner at the top of the Reports page links ("click here") to more detail on each report type, which is a good starting point if you want more depth on a particular report.

      Report Categories

The Reports page groups the available reports into four categories. The table below shows the on-screen report names and links to each report's full article:

      Category Reports available
      Battery Reports Battery Status
Billing Reports Billing Detail, LE Billing Detail
Device Reports Devices Not Connecting, Outdated Firmware
      User Reports User Security

Two Ways to Run a Report

      • On-demand: run a report immediately from the Reports page and download the result (for example as a CSV or HTML file). This is best for a quick, one-off answer.
      • Scheduled: configure a report to run automatically on a recurring frequency and email the result to chosen recipients. This is best for regular, fleet-wide reporting that should arrive without anyone having to remember to run it. Scheduling requires the Scheduled Report Manager and Scheduled Report View Admin permissions. See Scheduled Reports in Device Manager for how to set up frequency, filters, and recipients.

      Available Reports

Open any report below for its parameters, columns, and required permissions:

      Report What it's for
Device Manager - Devices Not Connecting Report A fleet health check that flags devices which have not connected in longer than expected.
Device Manager - Battery Status Report Visibility of devices reporting a Low or Critical battery status.
Device Manager - Outdated Firmware Report Devices running firmware behind the latest release, highlighting any known critical issues.
Device Manager - User Security Report User accounts, their device access, 2FA status, and login history for security review.
Device Manager Billing How Device Manager fees are calculated, with the Billing Detail report for reconciliation.
Location Engine Billing Location Engine charges and the LE Billing Detail report for lookup usage per device.

      Next Steps

      • To automate any of the above so it runs on a schedule and emails recipients, see Scheduled Reports in Device Manager.
