Device Manager - Outdated Firmware Report

Want to quickly spot devices falling behind on the latest firmware? The Outdated Firmware Report is a new, opt-in report that flags devices running outdated or critical firmware, using the same scheduled-reporting framework as the rest of Device Manager's reports. It identifies devices in your fleet running firmware behind the latest available release for their product, and highlights any flagged with a known critical issue, so you can prioritise which assets need an update most urgently.
Report Parameters
When running or scheduling the report, you can configure:

Days Since Last Connection: only include devices that have connected within this many days. This avoids flooding the report with devices that simply haven't checked in recently (and therefore haven't had a chance to receive a firmware update), rather than devices with a genuine update problem.

Device Type: scope the report to a specific product, or run it across all device types.

Critical Issues Only: when set to Yes, the report only returns devices affected by a known critical issue, rather than every device that is simply a version or two behind.
What's in the Report
| Report Column | Description |
| Distributor / Vendor / Client | The account hierarchy the device sits under, so you can filter or group results by partner. |
| Product | The Digital Matter product/device type. |
| Serial Number | The device serial number. |
| Critical Issue | Flags whether this device's current firmware is affected by a known critical issue (e.g. a bug or security fix), so these can be prioritized over a routine version bump. |
| Current Firmware | The firmware version presently running on the device. |
| Scheduled Firmware | The version queued to be pushed to the device next time it checks in, if a firmware update has been scheduled for it. |
| Latest Firmware | The newest firmware release available for that product. |
| Last Connected (UTC) | The last time the device checked in. |
Why This Matters
Keeping fleet firmware current means devices benefit from the latest bug fixes, security patches, and feature improvements. This report gives you a single view across your whole fleet (rather than checking devices one at a time) so you can identify which assets are behind, understand whether that's a critical issue or a routine version gap, and plan a firmware rollout accordingly.
How do I run this report?
- This report is opt-in – contact DM support to have it enabled for your account, along with the relevant Reports permission.
- The report can be run on-demand from the Reports tab in Device Manager, or configured to run automatically – see Scheduled Reports in Device Manager for how to set up frequency and recipients.
