Rental companies who are tracking their assets might want to provide their clients with limited access to view these assets. Similarly, rental companies may hire 3rd party technicians or contractors to fix/maintain equipment; they may require temporary access to the assets.

There are two ways to offer access:

1) Creating user accounts with limited access:

This method is great for users who need to use Telematics Guru features like the Trip history views, Scheduled Maintenance Reminders and Reports. Also, user accounts are needed to use TG mobile app features Bluetooth Driver ID and Checklist. Additionally, to receive mobile app alerts.

User accounts can have access to select Projects, Departments or Assets.
See Inviting Users and Setting up a User Account for more info on creating user accounts.

Asset Access Level:
All Assets -
User has access to all assets.
Limited by Asset -
User can be mapped to one or multiple Assets.
Limited by Project -
User can be mapped to one or multiple Projects.
Limited by Department -
User can be mapped to only one Department.

Make sure to provide right level of access AND the right feature and report permissions.
Example - A contractor shouldn't have access to view all assets, manage and delete the assets.
Be cautious when shifting assets between project and deparments.
Shifting assets may lead to users with limited access to lose or gain visablity of assets.

See Creating Assets in Telematics Guru and Asset Bulk Update for information on assigning Projects and Departments on to assets.

2) Creating Location sharing links -

A Location-sharing link can be created to share the locations of assets with contractors who do not have access to the Telematics Guru platform. This link can copied and shared over email, SMS or any messaging app. Location sharing links can be set to expire after a couple of hours/days and can share location for one or multiple assets.
