Fuel Detection in Telematics Guru
Telematics Guru can detect fuel fill events and display them against trips, provided the required fuel setup has been completed for the organisation.
This functionality requires the Fuel Management organisational functionality option to be enabled. For broader context, see Fuel Monitoring in Telematics Guru and TG - Organisation Functionality.

Initial Setup
When you first log in and open the Fuel Detection page from the Admin menu, you may see a message prompting you to create a fuel profile.

Close that message, then click Adjust Fill Settings to configure the fuel profile. This is where you define the fill level threshold and the maximum speed that can be reported while fuel level is increasing.
Important setup note
Fuel fill settings are not retrospective. They should be configured during organisation setup so eligible fill events are not missed.
At present, only a single fuel profile can be configured for an organisation.
How Fuel Detection Works
After each trip, the configured fill detection settings are used by an algorithm that reviews the trip telemetry and associated fuel readings. Where the trip data matches the configured criteria, Telematics Guru generates fuel fill events for that trip.
A single trip can contain multiple fill events. The page only lists trips that contain eligible fill events, and when you select a trip, the related fill events are shown below it.

Understanding the Fuel Detection Page
-
Adjust Fill Settings - This is the first place to start. The left-hand pane shows the currently configured fuel profile.
-
Trip Details - Clicking Detail for a trip populates the lower section with the fill event details for that trip.
-
Fill Event Information - This section shows the details of the detected fill events.
-
Fuel and Speed Graph - The graph shows speed and fuel level for the selected trip, with the highlighted section indicating where filling occurred.
-
Export to Excel - Use this to export the displayed information from the system.
Filters and Grouping
Multiple vehicles can be shown on the page. The table groups data by vehicle, then time, then trip.
The date range selector can be used to view a month, or to choose the end date for a 7-day or 1-day period.
Next Steps
For the broader feature overview, see Fuel Monitoring in Telematics Guru. If you need to confirm whether the feature is enabled for your organisation, see TG - Organisation Functionality.
