The G120 will start a trip based on either of the following methods
- Wired Ignition
- Emulated Ignition
- Run Detect
See Overview of Operation - [G120] for explanation on how each mode works.
When the device is in trip, it will turn on its GPS module and cellular modem and log records based on the "Logging" parameters that we have configured. The Logging parameter is added from Parameters > Edit System Parameters > Add Parameters > Logging.
Below is how the device will log out of the box.
- Logging Parameters
- Time interval
- log a record every 60 seconds or;
- Distance interval
- when 500m is travelled or;
- Heading Change
- when direction is changed by 10° over a long distance (>150m)
- heading change over short distance can also be configured, but this is disabled by default.
- Time interval
Speed change and Stationary are disabled by default.
- Speed Change (km/h) - Log a distance when the change in speed crosses this threshold +/-. This is useful for speed monitoring.
- Stationary - Log a record if the asset is determined to be stationary. This is useful for idle monitoring.
The heading change log means that the trips plotted by the device can follow the true path of the road, without clipping corners.
